The North Carolina Trailblazers Outdoor Club program provides the funding for your middle/high school to create an outdoor club, suited to your experience level. Engaging in outdoor learning experiences connects students with North Carolina's nature and outdoor learning experiences can offer the ability to learn new hands-on skills, develop leadership and teambuilding potential, and make friends that have similar interests!

"I learned a lot going on the raft trip and had many new experiences with my friends."

Trailblazers Funding

Joining the Trailblazers provides your middle/high school the opportunity to develop an outdoor club. It's up to you how to spend your funding!

The application window for the 2024-2025 academic year is now closed and will reopen in 2025.

Field Trips

Clubs have used funds to take field trips to outdoor areas statewide, including hiking the Appalachian Trail and saltwater fishing. Trip activities have included camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, rock climbing, and many more.

Clubs have purchased equipment for archery, backpacking, camping, fishing, and service learning activities.

"Getting outdoors has always been important but not always having that chance through my school was really great."
