Get Started!

Planning to earn a Shotgun Achievement Patch? Fantastic!

You’ll need to submit a few photos of you safely handling a shotgun, and then complete the following steps. Be sure to keep your camera handy!

Step 1

If you have not already, you’ll need to complete a hunter education course to learn about safety and responsibility. The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s Hunter Education Program provides free courses throughout the year statewide. Learn more here.

Make sure to keep a copy of your certificate!

Step 2

Complete the Shotgun Achievement Patch Workbook, including the quiz.

Step 3

Watch the “Shotgun and Rifle Safety” video below.

Finish!

Once you have completed steps 1-3, send the following to info@ncoutdoorheritage.org

  • Photos of you using safely handling a shotgun.
  • A photo or screenshot of your Hunter Education Certification
  • Pages 8-9 from the Shotgun Achievement Patch Workbook
